The Medical Library opens from Wednesday 24th February, 10am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. When you visit, please be aware that all the rules we put in place in 2020 still apply.
- The entrance door to the library is now swipe access only – you will need your card and to swipe in one person at a time.
- Maximum occupancy has been reduced in line with national guidelines. If our safe maximum capacity is reached, there is no facility for queuing, and you will need to return at a quieter time
- You cannot access books on shelves. You must request any item you require by using the Click & Collect service
- Medical Library staff will retrieve items once a day for collection at the Medical Library service desk, before the Library opens, so please request books well in advance if you need them while you are using a study space in the library
You must wear your face covering at all times. This remains the case, as it was last year, but we want to stress how important it is to wear it even when seated. This is not simply a ‘Library rule’, it is a legal requirement in libraries in Scotland and is an essential part of protecting staff and students against the new more transmissible variant.
If you are unable to wear a face covering, you must wear a lanyard, and it must be clearly visible to our staff.
No food or drink, other than bottled water, is permitted in the library at this time, in order to reduce the need for additional cleaning so that our cleaning staff can focus on reducing the COVID risk on all touchpoints.
We recognise the enormous value of the Medical Library to our students and are working extremely hard to offer you Library services during this very challenging time. Please help us by taking care to understand the rules and only visiting in person if you have an essential need.
